Alan Bowman Receives Spot on Manning Award Watch List
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State quarterback Alan Bowman was selected to the watch list for the Manning Award, it was announced Thursday by the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
The Manning Award honors the top quarterback in college football and uniquely factors the candidates' postseason performances in its balloting. The watch list contains 29 total student-athletes, including six from the Big 12 Conference, which is tied for most in the country. Among the 29 quarterbacks listed, Bowman ranks fifth with 3,460 passing yards in 2023.
One of the most experienced quarterbacks in the country, Bowman is coming off a successful 2023 season as he guided the Cowboys to an appearance in the Big 12 Championship game and 10 wins overall. He threw for 247.1 yards per game throughout the year, ranking him second in the conference, and added 17 total touchdowns. Bowman's passing yard average increased to 285.9 against Big 12 competition, eventually leading to the seventh-highest single-season passing total in school history (3,460).
In all, Bowman has recorded 29 starts, thrown for more than 8,800 yards and is responsible for over 50 touchdowns throughout his career. Bowman was also named to the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy watch list earlier this summer.
The award recipient will be selected by a voting panel, which includes national media and each of the Mannings, after the postseason.
