Pokes Report: CFP 12-team Playoff Predictions, Teams and Tournament

I would love this.....better yet Oregon beats tOSU to end it.

aren't you missing a B10 team from your list.

the formula is always:

SEC 4 teams
B10 4 teams
ACC 2 teams
Big12 1 team
5th conf champ 1 team.

some years the Big12 might get 2 teams and the ACC 1 team, but it alternates. I don't think WVU is better than Florida State this year.

the B12 has too much parity and the 2nd place team likely will not be ranked higher than FSU or Miami

SOS is up to the control of the teams on conferences. That's why the other leagues only play 8 conference games to artificially boost their SOS, compared to the leagues that play 9 conf games.

3. Decreased total amount off losses conference wide

The third benefit of an eight-game conference schedule is that it provides less opportunity for a conference to "cannibalize" itself. Playing a ninth conference game guarantees that your conference, as a whole, will have more losses. The number of additional losses can be calculated by diving the number of teams by two. It is the equivalent of giving every team in one division of a conference an additional loss. In a sport where one loss can leave you out of contention for a playoff berth, minimizing your loss potential is critical. It is likely no coincidence that the two conferences that play an eight-game conference schedule have never missed the college football playoff, and that no conference with a nine-game conference schedule has made the college football playoff more the 60% of the time.

The commentary you quoted was more about the weakness of the B12 and PAC 12 than the fact they played 9 game schedules, and the strength of the SEC and Clemson than their 8 game schedules. For Christ sakes.

and the CFP committee got it wrong by omitting FSU last year.... just flat out wrong.

besides that SUPPORTS what I said, UNDEFEATED FSU got omitted so they could put in another (NON ACC, non-B12 team that they liked better)

The ACC did not get invited to the last 4-team playoff, so that they could get in a SEC team, even despite them being conference champ and UNDEFEATED.... LIKE I SAID, and like they always do.

And yet the nonsense you quoted was about the history of a 4- team playoff. So based on that, FSU and UGA should have been in the 2023 CFP. But alas, the 8 or 9 game conference schedule doesn't matter. It's the season results that matter.

I quoted the history of NCAA playoffs / BCS everything where humans decide by committee or by vote and it has always been by whim of those selecting.
