STILLWATER – Oklahoma State safety Trey Rucker was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week following his performance against South Dakota State on Saturday.

This marks his second Big 12 weekly honor since transferring into the program.

Rucker recorded a game-high 15 total tackles, nine of which were solo stops, both of which stats ranked first among power four programs this season. In doing so, Rucker also set career high numbers in both total tackles and solo stops.

“Trey loves to play football, always has,” head coach Mike Gundy had to say of Rucker during his weekly press conference on Monday. “He’s reckless and will totally disregard his body to play the game, which you have to do to be competitive at this level and he likes football. Trey’s a guy who would play forever if you let him. He’s a quiet leader, he’s not vocal, but the players do enjoy watching him and it’s valuable to have a player like him on your team because he’s relentless and he’ll compete from start to finish.”

Rucker’s first Big 12 weekly award came following his performance against BYU in 2023, posting six total tackles, five of which were solo stops, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.
