Cowgirl Soccer Fall 2-0 to Texas Tech for Second-Straight Big 12 Loss
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State dropped a 2-0 contest to Texas Tech Sunday afternoon at Neal Patterson Stadium.
With the loss, the 12th-ranked Cowgirls fell to 8-2-1 overall and 1-2-0 In Big 12 play, while the Red Raiders improved to 7-2-1 and 2-0-1 in the conference.
Texas Tech led in shots with a 14-10 advantage and put nine of those shots on frame, while both teams recorded four corner kicks. The game marked just the second time this season that OSU has failed to score.
The Cowgirls started things off offensively in the ninth minute when Xcaret Pineda took a shot from the top left corner of the box, but TTU keeper Faith Nguyen prevented the score, catching the ball in the center of the goal.
The Red Raiders took a 1-0 lead late in the first half after a strike Kaitlyn Giametta as she delivered a 12-yard shot to the near post. TTU would strike again in the 64th minute to extend its lead to two on a goal by Ashleigh Williams.
The Cowgirls were unable to find the back of the net down the stretch, with their best opportunity coming in the 73rd minute on a left-footed strike by Nicole Ray that a diving Nguyen was able to save.
OSU returns to action with a pair of road matches this week as the Cowgirls take on BYU on Thursday before a Sunday afternoon contest against Utah.
