Oklahoma Soccer Notches Fourth Win In A Row With 3-0 Win Over Iowa State
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State posted its fourth consecutive win Thursday night with a 3-0 victory over Iowa State at Neal Patterson Stadium.
With the win, the Cowgirls ran their unbeaten streak to six and improved to 12-2-3 overall and 5-2-2 in Big 12 play. Iowa State is now 3-8-5 and 1-4-3 in the league.
Laudan Wilson led OSU with a pair of goals, while Logan Heausler added to her team-leading total. Wilson’s brace was the first multi-goal game of her career and the fourth of the season by a Cowgirl as Heausler has achieved the feat twice and Nicole Ray once.
The shutout marked the 14th of the season for OSU, tying it for the second most in a single season in program history. The Cowgirls also had 14 in 2009 while the 2011 squad had a record 18.
Grace Gordon tallied three saves for her 11th clean sheet of the season, tying her with AD Franch for the second most in program history. Franch had 11 shutouts in 2009 before setting a program record with 12 in 2011.
After a scoreless first half, OSU’s attack exploded in the second half.
The Cowgirls’ first goal came in the 57th minute when Wilson took a short pass from Lexi Lee and dribbled through three defenders before sending a shot to the near post from 15-yards out.
Just under eight minutes later, Wilson followed her score up a strike from the top of the 18-yard box as her shot glanced off the near post and in. Lee picked up another assist on the play, while Katelyn Hoppers also recorded an assist. The goal was Wilson’s fifth of the season.
Heausler put the game away in the 69th minute when Ray delivered a corner kick into the box, and Heausler headed it past ISU goalie Avery Gillahan for her seventh goal of the season. The seven goals is tied for her career high, which she also set a year ago.
OSU returns to action Sunday at UCF, with kickoff set for 11:30 a.m. (CDT) in Orlando.
