Five-Star 2022 Offensive Tackle Includes Oklahoma State In Top 8
Kelvin Banks, an offensive tackle out of Summer Creek High School out of Humble, Texas, has been one of the top targets on Oklahoma State’s 2022 recruiting since they evaluated the class.
Tonight, the five-star included the Cowboys in his top eight grouping, which he announced on Twitter. In this list with the Cowboys is Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, LSU, Oregon, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M.
Banks has always felt the pressure from the recruiting staff and has kept the Cowboys near the top of his recruitment since the beginning.
Oklahoma State was Banks’ first offer back in May 2019 and turned it into a commitment in September of the same year. Ten months later though, he would decommit from the Cowboys after earning double digit offers. He always stayed adamant that it was never anything against the staff or the program, he just wanted to make sure he was making the right decision.
Banks, who is 6’5 300 pounds, is ranked by many as the No. 2 offensive tackle in the nation for the 2022 class, but he will be a candidate for having the No. 1 spot when signing day comes.
The relationship between Banks and the OSU recruiting staff has remained very strong, even when he decommitted. He has told Pokes Report on several occasions that he speaks with the recruiting staff several times a week and loves the way they recruit him.
Banks does not have a commitment date set but after releasing a top 12 on Jan. 10 and his top eight now, I expect a commitment to come within the next few months. I would be surprised if he were still uncommitted by the start of his senior season.
Banks would provide the Cowboys with the best offensive line prospect they have ever landed and would almost certainly be a day one and multi-year starter under Charlie Dickey.
