STILLWATER – Oklahoma State dropped a 2-0 contest to No. 9 TCU Friday night at Neal Patterson Stadium.

With the loss, the 19th-ranked Cowgirls finish Big 12 play 6-3-2 and enter the postseason with a 13-3-3 overall mark. OSU will be the No. 5 seed in the Big 12 Championship in Kansas City, Mo., and will open play Wednesday against 12th-seeded Cincinnati at 11:30 a.m.

Ninth-ranked TCU captured the conference crown with the win as it finished 9-0-2 in the league and is now 14-2-2 overall.

Among the top 10 teams nationally in scoring, TCU scored both its goals against the Cowgirls via penalty kick, converting chances in each half.

The Horned Frogs took the lead just 3:05 into the contest. After Ellie Geoffroy was whistled for a handball in the box, Seven Castain stepped up and converted the penalty kick to put the visitors up 1-0.

After going much of the opening half without a shot, OSU attempted three in the final five minutes. But Reganne Morris and Nicole Ray both had their efforts saved while a try by Lexi Lee was blocked.

OSU goalie Grace Gordon recorded all four saves of her saves in the match prior to intermission to keep the Frogs from extending their lead.

Coming out of halftime, the Cowgirls peppered TCU in the attack but could not find the equalizer despite recording three shots during a 2 ½ minute span in the first six minutes of action.

TCU would double its lead on another penalty kick in the 62nd minute after Gordon fouled an attacking Frog to try and prevent a shot attempt. Bella Diorio buried the chance, and the visitors went up 2-0.

The match finished with both teams recording nine shots, while the Cowgirls held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks but were shut out for the fourth time this season.
