Postgame Notes

  • Brennan Presley had one of the best games in his storied career with 183 yards and a touchdown on 15 receptions.

A closer look at Presley’s outstanding afternoon in Waco:

  • With 15 catches on Saturday, Presley now holds three of the top four spots on the single-game list for most catches by a Cowboy (T-1st, 16 vs. Texas A&M on December 27, 2023; T-3rd, 15 at Houston on November 18, 2023, and at Baylor October 26, 2024). No other Cowboy has ever had more than one game with at least 14 receptions.
  • Presley’s 183 receiving yards are the most by a Cowboy since his 189-yard outing against Houston last season on November 18 and is the second-highest total of his career behind that same performance.
  • After 30 minutes of action, Presley had hauled in nine catches on nine targets for 135 yards and a touchdown, marking the most receiving yards by a Cowboy in a single half since Dillon Stoner had 180 in the opening half at Baylor on December 12, 2020. It was also the most receiving yards Presley has ever had in a single half and his fourth time surpassing 100 receiving yards in the first half of a game.
  • Presley produced the highlight play of the game when he broke several tackles on a screen pass from Alan Bowman and found the end zone from 33 yards out to tie the game at 10-10 with 9:22 left in the second quarter. It improved Presley’s team-leading receiving touchdown total to six and gave him 22 for his career.
  • Presley tallied his first 100-yard receiving game of the season and sixth of his career.
  • Presley has also caught multiple passes in 38 consecutive games and at least three in 16 straight.

Brennan Presley’s performance also improved his placement on several program career record lists:

  • Presley became the sixth player in program history to eclipse 3,000 career receiving yards and now has 3,111 for his career.
  • Presley moved closer to Rashuan Woods’ program-record 293 career catches, currently sitting in second with 281.
  • After posting 232 all-purpose yards on Saturday, Presley moved into fourth with 4,889 for his career.
  • Presley also increased his career kick return yard total to 1,432, moving him into fourth place.
  • Ollie Gordon II finished Saturday’s game with 18 carries for 77 yards and a pair of touchdowns to give him three multi-score games this season and nine for his career. He entered the game ninth among active FBS players with 33 career total touchdowns.
  • With Baylor threatening late in the opening quarter, Kobe Hylton stepped in front of Sawyer Robertson’s pass for the first interception of his career. OSU picked off BYU three times last week and entered Saturday’s game top 20 in the country with nine interceptions.
  • For the fifth time this season, Oklahoma State scored on its opening drive when Logan Ward converted a 45-yard field goal to put the Cowboys up, 3-0. The drive was catapulted by Alan Bowman’s 56-yard yard completion to Da’Wain Lofton, the longest catch of his career.
  • After his first pass attempt of the game fell incomplete, Alan Bowman completed 10 consecutive passes for 168 yards and a touchdown. He finished the contest
  • with 359 yards, one touchdown and an interception on 28-for-42 passing.
  • Ollie Gordon II connected with Brennan Presley through the air in the fourth quarter to make Oklahoma State five-for-five on two-point conversions this season. The Cowboys entered Saturday tied for the most two-point conversions in the country at four.
  • Oklahoma State converted three of four fourth-down opportunities against Baylor, its highest total since converting four times on October 5, 2019, at Texas Tech.
  • With Da’Wain Lofton and Rashod Owens’ receptions of 56 and 47 yards, respectively, Oklahoma State has now had multiple 45+ yard plays in three games this season.
  • Talyn Shettron recorded his first career start on Saturday.
  • Oklahoma State’s game captains were Kendal Daniels, Kobe Hylton, Jake Schultz and Wes Pahl.

Notable Streaks and Trends

  • Brennan Presley has had multiple catches in 38 straight games, the second-longest active streak in the FBS.
  • Oklahoma State is 5-for-5 on two-point conversion attempts this season and the five successful two-point conversions are the most in the FBS.
  • OSU has held its opponent scoreless on its game-opening drive in 45 of its past 66 games.
  • OSU has held its opponent to less than a 50% third down conversion rate in 52 of its past 60 games.
  • Over the past 57 games, OSU has held opponents to 284-for-881 (32.2%) on third down.
