Spring Football Starts in Just Over a Week with Spring Game April 24
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State will have a different calendar for their upcoming spring football primarily because their is no spring break built into the academic calendar this spring. Usually, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy has practiced his team three times, the abbreviated practices that are required with no pads in the first practice and then helmets and shoulder pads in the next two practices. The Cowboys would go on spring break and then come back and drill in full pads. This spring will start on a Sunday, March 21 and then get those three “pajama” practices done the first week. The next week on Tuesday, March 30 they will be able to go in full pads.
Special dates this spring include Thursday, April 1, which will be the Pro Day in the morning and then the Coaches Clinic for high school coaches throughout the day including an open practice for clinic attendees that afternoon.
Spring will conclude with the Spring Game on Saturday, April 24. The event will begin at noon. A format has not been determined. There is no live recruiting for Division I programs through May 31. There will be an Oklahoma State former players event that weekend with golf and the game. That is also the weekend of the Oklahoma State-Texas baseball series at O’Brate Stadium.
The NCAA allows 15 practice dates in the spring.
