A Sad Story of Good Plan, Lots of Study, and a Penalty Kills the Momentum

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State and Arizona State had an official weather delay at halftime of two hours and 38-minutes. A lot can be accomplished in that amount of time in football. Practices are often shorter than two and a half hours. Inside the West End Zone Oklahoma State players hydrated, snacked, watched the entire first half in their team unit meeting rooms. They were coached up on mistakes and on adjustments for the second half.

Nobody covering the team can state the real honest truth. We're bad on defense due to a lack of talent at all three levels. That's why we're losing out no doubt! When we lost our three best defenders there was nobody close in ability to replace them. We have ZERO difference makers on defense! The rest are slow, not physical, and weak. Bad recipe for defenders in FBS football. They truly are an example of our poor talent evaluation and recruiting weaknesses coming home to roost.

We need better players with more talent than we're running out there right now regardless who's coaching them though you have to believe they could be coached better too.

It's the end of an era. It's about money now. Nothing much we can do. The university needs to subsidize the program more heavily, we need a better conference revenue stream, and we need some heavy hitting NIL money.

Roughrider is correct. Money talks from here on out and you'd best be prepared and evaluated who you want in the portal and be ready. I know that work has been done.

The defense is bad and yes, there is nobody out there as good as Oliver as a pass rusher and Martin as an overall defender. They are All-American caliber players. I like some of the young players in the secondary, but we are very short at linebacker because the linebacker coach didn't want to add any portal prospects when they were presented last December and April. I wish we had that depth now.
