Cowgirls Defeat Oral Roberts In N7 Game, 89-68

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team defeated Oral Roberts 89-68 at Gallagher-Iba Arena on Thursday.

The win improves the Cowgirls to 2-0, while the loss drops ORU to 1-1. The win marks the 11th consecutive against the Golden Eagles.

Micah Gray led the way with 25 points. The Cowgirls in consecutive games had four players in double digits including Alexia Smith with 19, Stailee Heard with 19 and Tenin Magassa added 11.

Heard led a high-scoring first quarter with eight, and Gray tallied seven, as OSU led 27-22.

In the second, back-to-back three-pointers from Heard and eight points in the period helped extend the Cowgirl lead. 

Going into the locker room, the Cowgirls shot a blistering 62% from the floor and outscored the Golden Eagles 30-16 in the paint, as OSU took a 50-43 to the break. 

Coming out of the half, after a slow start for the Cowgirls, an 8-0 run sparked by Gray's third trey of the night pushed the OSU lead to nine. 

A three-pointer from Gray at the buzzer gave the Cowgirls a 72-64 lead heading into the final period. 

Back-to-back three-pointers from Heard and Gray to open the fourth, along with allowing only four points in the quarter, propelled the Cowgirls to the finish. 

OSU stifled the Golden Eagles in the fourth. ORU was held scoreless over the final 8:24 and was 0-10 from the floor. 

OSU's hot offensive start to the season continued as the Cowgirls shot 57% and drilled nine threes. 

The Cowgirls are back in action at Gallagher-Iba Arena against Texas Southern on November 11 at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
