Oklahoma State Shoots Its Way Past Central Arkansas, 89-58
STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team shot its way to 5-0 on the year with an 89-58 win over Central Arkansas on Wednesday morning in front of 4,714 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The Cowgirls shot a blistering 55 percent from the field in the contest, including a 59 percent clip from the 3-point line on their way to victory. OSU assisted on 24 of its 33 field goals and drilled 13 3-pointers on the day.
The Sugar Bears fell to 3-1 on the year with the loss.
The Cowgirls got off to a quick start offensively, hitting four of their first six shots to race out to a 9-0 lead three minutes into the contest. OSU would add a 10-0 run to push the margin to 21-6 with two and a half minutes left in the quarter.
OSU would shoot 55 percent (12-22) from the floor to hold a 30-12 lead after the first 10 minutes.
The Cowgirls used a quick 6-0 burst in the second to push the margin to 21 at 36-15. OSU continued its hot shooting in the quarter, knocking down seven of its 12 shots on its way to a 52-31 lead at the break.
For the half, OSU shot 58 percent, including an 8-of-12 performance from 3-point range.
The Cowgirls used a 7-0 run over a three-minute stretch midway through the third period to extend their lead to 64-38. OSU outscored the Sugar Bears by an 18-10 count in the period to take a 70-41 lead into the final period.
OSU got a quick 9-0 burst in the final frame and made four consecutive treys, including two from Macey Huard, to take an 83-50 lead with four minutes remaining in the contest.
Micah Gray led the Cowgirls with 19 points and was joined in double figures by Huard, who finished with 16 points, and Ténin Magassa, who added 11 of her own.
