Where Will Mike Gundy Go in Looking for His Program's New Coordinators - Defense Version

STILLWATER – The best way to describe the search right now as Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy searches for new coordinators on both sides of the football is a blank canvas. Gundy’s hires have ranged from major Division I coordinators to coaches in the FCS and Division II ranks. Most of them have had a degree of success.

Sooo.......Joe Bob Clements is not even on the radar...? Not saying I am for or agin, but I certainly thought that Joe Bob was in the wings for the next opportunity. If he's not even in consideration for the position this time, will he be staying at O-State? These kinds of staff changes are intriguing at the very least

RA - What about Gasparatc at Tulane? Great stats on his defensive units.

Seems he checks certain boxes that might be attractive to HCMG.

Any insight on him?

Life isn't always fair and it appears the only defensive coach that will be retained is Tim Duffie! The new coordinator will bring in his own staff save for Duffie!

That may have been a motivator for Gundy selecting little known coordinators in the past.

I'm going to sit here and pretend I know what's going on in Mike Gundy's head, but I would think that with him being passed over twice, I don't think Mike would hire him. Plus, after 0-9, and not that good a combined record the past three seasons, I think a fresh start is definitely warranted.

I think the Tulane connection might play stronger on offense with Joe Craddock.the Green Wave offensive coordinator.

Well, he hired Yurcich to be OC and play caller. But when Yurcich got there, he learned he would be QB coach and passing game coordinator with no play calling duties. Day is scum.

Knowles would quiet the wolves at the door and restore faith in the program and, in particular, in Gundy. He is the only hire that would instill 100% confidence...long shot as it is.

B**l S**t, the problem with Penn State from 2021 to 2023 is James Franklin couldn't beat Ohio State or Michigan! He finally got to the Big 10 championship game this year because he avoided Michigan on this year's schedule (look it up) and Ryan Day and Ohio State puked it up by losing to a DOWN Michigan program! He still can't be at Ohio State and lost 20-13 to them! They averaged 35.6 and 36.2 PPG in 2022and 2023! They averaged 35.9 points PPG this year under former KU O coordinator Kotlenicki!

Wow! I guess I touched a nerve. I'm not a James Franklin fan in any way. I actually think he is a horrible in game coach. HOWEVER, Yurcich was the OC and QB coach last year and Drew Allar was a much better QB this year than last. Not even close if you watch their games.

Nope you came on shooting your mouth off with out any receipts and I gave you some! This team was shut down by Knowles and Ohio State and barely hung on to beat USC and Minnesota and DIDNT GAVE TO FACE MICHIGAN BECAUSE OF THE BIG schedule setup! The coordinator isn't the problem the Head Coach is the problem and they will.probably get smoked by Oregon this weekend!!!!
