Oklahoma State Basketball Takes Care of Business Against Tulsa
Oklahoma State basketball got back in the win column on Wednesday evening as they beat Tulsa in the Reynolds Center, 76-55.
With the win, the Cowboys moved to 5-2 on the season. The Cowboys will be back out on Sunday, Dec. 8, as they travel up to New Jersey against Seton Hall in the Big 12/Big East Battle.
The Cowboys combined to shoot 49% from the field, 37.5% from 3-point range and struggled from the free throw line, shooting just 62%. They outrebounded the Golden Hurricane 39-35, forced 22 turnovers and held TU to 36% shooting from the field.
It was Tulsa native Bryce Thompson who led the way in scoring with 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field, along with four assists. Abou Ousmane and Brandon Newman scored 13 points and 11 points respectively.
It was a close game for most of the first half as the Golden Hurricane held a two-point lead with 7:36 left in the half. That’s when the Cowboys started to pull away, going on 9-0 run over the next two minutes.
TU made it a five-point game less than two minutes left in the first half, but Arturo Dean hit back-to-back layups, followed by layups by Newman and Thompson for an 8-0 for the Pokes to put them up 13 points, 39-26, going into the half.
Late in the second half, with the Cowboys up close to 30 points, the freshman big man from Serbia, Andrija Vukovic, saw the first minutes of his collegiate career.
The walk-on trio of Kirk Cole, Tyler Caron and Jaxton Bobik got into the game with 1:42 left to go in the game, with Caron recording a steal and a fast break dunk with :25 left in the game.
