Oklahoma State Keeps Adding Defensive Help with Another Corner in Carrington Pierce
STILLWATER – Okay, stop me if you’ve heard this before, Oklahoma State in their careful and precise evaluation of transfer portal talent finds an athlete with primarily a basketball background that can help on the football field.
We saw this earlier in the transfer portal cycle with Malik Charles from West Georgia by way of Northern Arizona and high school at Arizona Compass Prep Academy. Charles decided after high school that he wanted to play football. He made it happen and is now an active 6-5, 260 pound defensive end.
Now, from out west in California here comes Carrington Pierce. This is not a transfer portal pickup, but another member of the recruiting class out of junior college where now everybody comes in with potentially four-years to play.
Pierce is out of Fontana, Calf. and Etiwanda High School where he helped lead the basketball program to the playoffs and finished his senior season with 25-6 record. He takes his 6-1, 175 pound size to Chaffey College to play cornerback.
At midseason he was being listed by junior college recruiting sites as one of the top cornerback prospects in the nation.
Pierce finished the season with 24 tackles, 14 unassisted and three interceptions. Pierce was offered by UCLA, Kansas, Nebraska, Western Michigan, UTEP, Arizona, Boise State, Utah State, and San Diego State. Oklahoma State offered with new corners coach Jules Montinar on Oct. 15 and he made his commitment on Sunday, Dec. 22.
He becomes the 22nd member of the 2025 Oklahoma State recruiting class and he is the sixth junior college player. Pierce is the fifth defensive back in the class. There are two in the transfer portal group.
Now, the win-loss record of the recruiting class is 196-58. The record of the junior college players is 38-14. The high school players have a record of 158-44.
