Chuba Hubbard's Career Season Ends With Injury

There hasn’t been a lot to cheer for with the Carolina Panthers this season as they’ve gone 4-11 with two games remaining on the schedule. That doesn’t include former Oklahoma State running back, Chuba Hubbard, as he’s been sensational for the Panthers as he’s having his best season in four years in the NFL.

That, however, has come to an end this week as the Panthers have placed him on the injured reserve with a calf injury. Thankfully it’s not serious but with a 4-11 record, the Panthers saw no reason to risk their bell cow back’s future.

At the time of going on the IR, Hubbard had 250 carries for 1,195 yards and 10 touchdowns. That’s 293 more yards than he had last year in two less games. It’s also double the number of touchdowns he had in 2023. He was also sixth in the NFL in rushing yards.

Hubbard signed a four-year contract extension back in November worth $33 million, with a maximum value of $37.2 million, with $15 million of the contract in new fully guaranteed dollars.

It’s safe to say Chuba’s earned his new contract and then some.

Hopefully the Panthers figure some things out in the offseason to give Hubbard a better chance at winning games because he’s in Charlotte for a few more years.
