Texas Hiring Former Oklahoma State Assistant Coach Jason McEndoo
STILLWATER – What was first reported on Jan. 28 by multiple sites that cover the University of Texas football program looks like it has fianlly happened. Texas football is hiring former Oklahoma State tight ends/fullbakcs coach or at one time labeled “Cowboy backs” coach when Oklahoma State was putting the tight ends, H-backs, and fullbacks together in one personnel group. It appears that is what caught Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian’s attention.

McEndoo was hired at Oklahoma State in 2015 coming from Montana State where he had coached offensive line. McEndoo was told by Mike Gundy he would coach a hybrid personnel group of tight ends, H-backs, and fullbacks and Gundy challenged him to come up with a name for the group. They settled on Cowboy backs. Texas has several players they’ve recruited that fit the mold of that hybrid and McEndoo is going to assist with that.
There is other speculation that Sarkisian has some material from the Mike Gundy hybrid offense that he would love to adopt into the Longhorns offense and McEndoo could help with that.
It is not known as of yet if McEndoo will have full-time position on staff or be an analyst or quality control coach. McEndoo came outof Washington State and was in the NFL or professional ranks for three seasons before he coached at two high schools in his native Washington. He then went on to coach offensive line at Montana State.

McEndoo and his wife, Ruth, have a large family that includes Luke McEndoo, who was a standout at Stillwater High School, played as a walk-on at Oklahoma State, and has now transferred to play at the University of Nevada.
McEndoo becomes the third known former OSU coach let go after this past season to take another job. Besides McEndoo going to Texas, former defensive coordinator Bryan Nardo is the linebackers coach at the University of Charlotte and fromer quarterbacks coach Tim Rattay is now at his alma mater Louisiana Tech.
