Oklahoma State Football Recruiting

For Those Wondering: Oklahoma State has Offers with Four of the Six Most Offered in Texas

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State football is often criticized, even by its’ own fans, for not going after the upper crust in recruiting prospects. Last year head coach Mike Gundy was adament and challenged the fans by proclaiming that the Cowboys do offer the “four and five-star recruits’ but don’t often get them. Gundy and now a completely new football staff with a still relatively new recruiting staff have more work than ever. This is the day and age of not only evaluating high school and junior college talent, but every bit as much of an emphasis on evaluating other collegiate talent from Division I on down to even Division III for the transfer portal process.

Most programs will tell you the portal process is the ven more important aspect of roster building. For the immediate impact and finding those final players to make a program better they are absolutely correct.

Gundy is still going to put a proper investment in time, effort, and financially on high school dchool recruiting. Gundy hit the road in January and hit a large number of schools and saw and took pictures with close to 60-70 prospects.

Dave Campbell’s Texas Football just put out their top five prospects in Texas high schools in number of offers and Oklahoma State is right there on four-of-th-six. Yes, six because there was a tie in number of offers at fifth.

The most offered prospect in Texas is the one Gundy is pictured with here in offensive tackle Zaden Krempin of Prosper, Texas. The OSU staff has worked hard on recruiting Krempin and two of his Prosper teammates in offensive tackle Bryce Gilmore and defensive tackle Jake Johnson.

Krempin has 51 documented scholarship offers including Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Colorado, Duke, Florida State, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, LSU, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Oregon, Penn State, SMU, Stanford, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Oklahoma State did not offer the number two most offered Texas prospect in Felix Ojo, an offensive tackle from Mansfield Lake Ridge. Ojo was one of the players most publicized coming out of the Under Armour Dallas Camp on Sunday. He has 48 scholarship offers, maybe more by now.
