STILLWATER – Oklahoma State wrestlers and first-year head coach David Taylor learned their path coming up in Philadelphia, Pa. next week in the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships at Wells Fargo Arena. They actually fared pretty well based on the 1-5 results in championship matches in the Big 12 Championships in Tulsa last weekend. The best news was heavyweight Wyatt Hendrickson earning the No. 2 seed right behind Minnesota behemoth and former national champion coming back from brief stints in the NFL and with WWE.

Hendrickson will still have to knock off Penn State No. 3 seed and runner up to Steveson in the Big Ten Championships in Greg Kirkvliet.

Teague Travis seeded No. 33

No respect for the Cowboys’ late lineup change at 149 pounds and former 157-pound wrestler Teague Travis. Travis was injured in the first weekend of the season and came back late to finish fourth in the Big 12 Championships. Travis was seeded at the end of the bracket at No. 33 and will wrestle in a pigtail beginner to earn the right to wrestle No. 1 seed at 149 Caleb Henson.

Tagen Jamison is on the same side of the bracket at 141 pounds with No. 2 seed Beau Bartlett (21-1) of Penn State presenting an obstacle. Besides Travis at 149 pounds, Oklahoma State will follow former Cowboys Jordan Williamson. He is the No. 8 seed for former Cowboy wrestler and Little Rock head coach Neil Erisman.

Caleb Fish is the No. 12 seed at 157 pounds and his main obstacle if he advances could be No. 5 seed Brandon cannon of Ohio State (20-3, who he has wrestled before. Top seed Tyler Kasak of Penn State (17-1) is also on that side of the bracket.

No. 8 seed Cameron Amine at 165 advances to the quarterfinals he will see No. 1 seed Mitchell Mesenbrink of Penn State.

Dean Hamiti Jr. was seconds from beating O’Toole and winning the Big 12.

Dean Hamiti Jr. is the No. 3 seed, so he advances and would face Levi Haines (20-1) of Penn State the No. 2 seed. He would have to get all the way to the finals to see the top seed Keegan O’Toole of Missouri, who he was seconds away from beating in regulation in the Big 12 174-pound final. Instead, it went to sudden victory and O’Toole got the takedown to win.

Dustin Plott is the No. 4 seed and on the same side of the bracket as Penn State’s top seed Carter Starocci (21-0) and he would have to beat Starocci to get another opportunity to wrestle his albatross in Northern Iowa’s Parker Keckeisen as the No. 2 seed.

Luke Surber at 197 pounds is two wins away from a potential meeting with top seed and Big Ten champion Jacob Cardenas of Michigan.

Here are all the Cowboys, their seeds. records, and first round opponent. Here is a link to the NCAA brackets.
