STILLWATER – Hauss Hejny never wrestled in high school. The sport is getting bigger in Texas year-by-year, but it’s still not close to what it is in Oklahoma. Now, Hejny’s dad dabbled in wrestling and during spring break, the father and son sat for close to six hours on the sofa watching Hejny’s new school, Oklahoma State, wrestle in the NCAA Championships. Hejny said he and his dad were hooping and a hollering the entire time.

glad to hear that... family is very important, IMO.

RA has the same infatuation with 40-times that most media have, although coaches don't pay so much attention to that stat.

They more often us the term "playing speed".

Here is a story from the Columbus Dispatch discussing player 40 times, with quotes from famous coaches and players.

Does it really matter how fast a football player runs it?

EXCERPT
Nobody cared about Chris Spielman's 40 time during an 11-year career in which he was a fourtime Pro Bowl selection, led Detroit in tackles all eight seasons with the Lions and set a Buffalo team record with 206 tackles in 1996.

"A lot of guys can run fast in this world, but not a lot of guys can run fast with pads on," Spielman said.

In football, that's known as "playing speed" and has more to do with explosiveness than track-and-field ability.

"Paul Brown would say it's more important how they play than how fast they run," LeBeau said of the Hall of Fame coach. ''Playing speed may sound nebulous, but it is different than what they run in a straight-line 40-yard dash. Playing speed makes or breaks you."

The innovative Brown is credited with being the first to time players in the 40 when he was OSU coach in the 1940s. He did it to determine who could cover a punt the fastest. He continued testing 40 times as Cleveland Browns coach.

Hejny will be QB1. I understand the importance of being coy about it right now but it seems obvious to me Hejny has the best of everything for the offense Meach most likely prefers.

but, but, but, everybody says that they are all identical.... decent arm and can take off if needed.

I mean really, for the sake of discussion, would Meach really know the difference if they were in pads and helmets and changed jerseys?

Did you take Tommy Shaw's crystal ball?

I'll be happy with whomever can move the team and hopefully stay healthy.

Personally, I'm way more interested in the OLine that will be assembled to protect the QBs. Without solid OLine play, we have near zero chance of any of the QBs being all that successful.
