Oklahoma State Signs 2024 National Champion Richard Figueroa
STILLWATER – David Taylor and Co. have done it again as they’ve signed former Arizona State national champion at 125 pounds, Richard Figueroa, to Oklahoma State.
This marks the fifth commitment out of the transfer portal, joining Casey Swiderski out of Iowa State, Alex Facundo, Gary Steen and Zack Ryder out Penn State.
Sources have confirmed Figueroa will jump up to 133 pounds and will have one year of eligibility remaining.
In four seasons with the Sun Devils, Figueroa went 51-9, including going 17-4 this past season in the Big 12. He entered the Big 12 tournament as the No. 1 seed and battled back to finish third after being upset in the quarterfinals.
He entered the NCAAs this past spring as a No. 5 seed but went 1-2.
His 2024 season was masterful as he rolled through the NCAA tournament upsetting top-seeded Braeden Davis from Penn State and Drake Ayala from Iowa.
Figueroa was a three-time state champion out of Sanger, California, losing only twice.
