he's freaking 6-8 and can do this?
scored 35 points on 13-of-18 shooting from the floor, 9-of-11 from 3-point range with four rebounds and four assists
STILLWATER – Steve Lutz and Co. are looking to add a few big men out of the transfer portal to fill out the rest of the roster heading into next season. One they’re looking at is former Delaware forward, John Camden.
According to Joe Tipton of On3, Camden is down to Oklahoma State, Cal, Grand Canyon, Mississippi State, Purdue and SMU.
Checking in at 6-8, 220 pounds, Camden played and started in 36 games for the Blue Hens this past season as a senior, averaging nearly 17 points per game on 47% shooting from the floor, nearly 42% from 3-point range and 78% from the free throw line. He also brought down 5.5 rebounds per game.
The 97-76 loss to St. John’s back on Dec. 28 was Camden’s best game of the season. He scored 35 points on 13-of-18 shooting from the floor, 9-of-11 from 3-point range with four rebounds and four assists.
Prior to his time at Delaware, Camden appeared in 14 games at Virginia tech in 2023-24 and 23 in 2022-23. He began his career at Memphis, where he appeared in one game before a season-ending injury.
Originally out of Wayne, PA, Camden graduated from the Brewster Academy in 2021 after playing three seasons at Archbishop Carroll.
Lutz and Co. are bringing in two high school big men in Mekhi Ragland and Ben Ahmed and return Robert Jennings and Andrija Vukovic. Adding a talented forward like Camden, along with adding a traditional big man out of the portal would round the class out nicely, which according to On3 is the No. 3 portal class in the country. They’ve added Mississippi State guard, Kanye Clary, Seton Hall guard, Isaiah Coleman, LSU transfer guard, Vyctorius Miller and Green Bay guard, Anthony Roy.
Guard Jamyron Keller entered the portal last week, leaving Lutz and Co. two scholarships to fill.
this class is still less than average, I'm not sure where you're coming up with a different assessment.Orangeheart72 said:
So what's happening here? Did Lutz find an NIL sugar daddy? Seems this class is too good to be just "fine effort recruiting" based.

we use to get 4-star kids all the time under Ford.
Lutz has a long road ahead of him, and this class is decent, at best.

It's not a less than average class AT ALL as far as addressing our major needs in regard to our guards being able to shoot, score and have more size. In order for us to even be competitive next season we have to have guys with experience come in again and play tons of minutes for us. If we signed all kids straight out of HS, we'd get absolutely destroyed, even if they were all 4*.
Sadly, we won't see near as much of that anymore where we recruit kids and they all stay together for 4 years. This new NIL/transfer world has changed the game for good unless it's all reeled back in.
Rodeo, comparing recruiting under Ford with the NIL recruiting age we are in with Coach Lutz is apples and oranges. We can only hope Coach has a "sugar daddy" ala T. Boone Pickens that want's to see Cowboys Basketball return to the glory days of Eddie Sutton. NIL is a fact and our fans should encourage it and support it.Orangeheart72 said:
