Oklahoma State Gets 2026 Receiver Commit from Jabarie Thornton
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is now up to eight commitments and three on the offensive side as Waco (TX) LaVega, (Padilla) Texas All-State receiver, Jabarie Thornton, committed to Oklahoma State on Sunday (April 13) evening.
He announced his commitment Monday afternoon.
Thornton has been to Stillwater on multiple occasions and the 5-11, 180-pound football player that is also a track standout was here most recently for an unofficial visit on the first day of spring football at OSU on Tuesday, March 25.
Thornton has close to 15 scholarship offers and chose Oklahoma State over Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, Nebraska, North Texas, Mississippi, Oregon, Texas State, Tulsa and UTEP.

Thornton helped LaVega to the Class 4A-II State Championship Game where they fell to the Carthage Bulldogs in AT&T Cowboys Stadium 28-14. LaVega finished the season 12-4. Thornton had 76 receptions for 1,367 yards and 15 touchdowns. He averaged 18 yards per catch. That was coming off an attention getting sophomore season where he caught 39 passes for 610 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Thornton is also outstanding in track and field. He has a personal best in the 200 meters of 22.61 seconds. He is explosive and competes in multiple jump events. He has a best of 20’8.5” in the long jump and he has triple jumped 39’5”. He is involved in track right now. His official visit date is pending but it might float into the summer and the month of June.
This was a strong statement that surfaced shortly after Thornton announced his pledge from his high school head coach at Waco LaVega in Don Hyde.
"Jabarie is everything a coach wants at WR because he is fast, understands breaks, routes, coverages, enormous catch radius, possibly best hands I've seen,” Hyde told David Smoak of the Baylor site SicEm 365. “Watching him do things in game is no surprise, because he stands out daily in practice."
As stated, Thornton is the eighth commitment in the 2026 high school cycle for the Cowboys and the third on offense to go with Jenks running back Kaydin KD Jones, and Berryhill offensive lineman Aiden Martin.
Oklahoma State will lose Da’Wain Lofton and Sam Jackson V from the slot receiver room after this season.
