Plus One: Oklahoma State Picks Up Transfer Portal D-Tackle in De'Marion Thomas
STILLWATER – The commitments are coming in so fast it’s like Oklahoma State is playing pinball in the transfer portal. You can now add another former in-state standout that left for the SEC. Former Tulsa Union All-State defensive lineman De’Marion Thomas is coming home to play for the Cowboys. Thomas has been at Vanderbilt and he’s been raising havoc. The junior-to-be has played in 23 games for the Commodores and last season started every game for Vandy as they earned a bowl bid.
The commitment came while Thomas was on campus for an official visit during the Orange-White spring game.

Thomas is now 6-3, 330 pounds and last season he started each game at nose and finished with 34 tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss, and 1.5 sacks. he has become a two-gap player on the defensive front and causes all kinds of congestion issues in both the run game and commands double-team attention in pass protection. His assisted sack last season came in the bowl clinching win at Auburn.
The three-star prospect out of Tulsa Union was a top 15 player in Oklahoma and picked Vanderbilt over offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Iowa State, Texas Tech, and Kansas. His senior season he helped Union to an 11-1 record and Union’s only loss came in six overtimes in the state semifinal game. His junior season he had 53 tackles, played both ways as an offensive guard, and Union finished as the runner-up in the 6A-I State Championship Game.

Thomas is the sixth transfer portal commitment in the last 10 days and the fourth this week including Marshall wide receiver Christian Fitzpatrick, Appalachian State offensive tackle Markell Samuel, and South Carolina edge rusher Wendell Gregory. They will all report in May and be ready to start workouts in the summer program.
