STILLWATER – Ollie Gordon II accomplished a lot of goals while at Oklahoma State. He was the NCAA Division I FBS leading rusher, the Doak Walker Award winner, an All-American, and on Saturday he received the final nod that he needed from his Cowboy career and that was the call telling him he had been drafted by the Miami Dolphins into the NFL. Miami selected the former Cowboys runner with the third pick in the sixth round (No. 179). Gordon II was back home in Fort Worth, Texas with his mother and other family and friends when the call came.

Gordon scored three fourth quarter touchdowns at West Virginia in the 2023 season.

Gordon II had a fantastic sophomore season in 2023 helping Oklahoma State to the Big 12 Championship Game against Texas, a 10-win season, and the Texas Bowl win over Texas A&M. He finished the year with 1,732-yards on 285 carries with 21 touchdowns and a carry average of just over six-yards. An excellent receiver out of the backfield and a willing pass protector, Gordon had 39 catches that season for 330-yards and another touchdown. Besides the Doak Walker and All-American honors, Gordon II was first-team All-Big 12 and the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year.

Gordon II played in all 13 games as a freshman and finished with 62 carries for 308-yards and two touchdowns. Last season besides being a dogged target by defenses and with not as much help upfront, he finished with 190 rushing attempts for 880-yards and 13 touchdowns.

His career numbers are strong with 2,920-yards rushing, 36 touchdowns, and a per carry average of 5.44-yards. He had 80 receptions for 585-yards with four touchdowns and a per catch average of 7.31-yards.

A wildcat quarterback, running back, and safety at Euless (Trinity), Texas; Gordon II was a four-star recruit and the No. 37 prospect in Texas. He picked Oklahoma State over Texas, Arkansas, Michigan, Nebraska, SMU, TCU, and USC among many others.

The biggest negative of his collegiate career was a DUI arrest over the summer prior to his last season. He is a big back that has break away speed. He is not shy about contact. He played in the Senior Bowl and was voted the top running back in Senior Bowl practices. He measures 6-1.3 and 226 pounds. At the NFL Combine, he disappointed with a 40 time of 4.61. He had a 34.5 vertical jump, a 10’0” broad jump, and at the Big 12 Pro Day, he did 12 reps on the bench press.

He will go down as one of the top runningbacks to play at Oklahoma State behind the likes of Bob Fenimore, Terry Miller, Barry Sanders, and Thurman Thomas.
