“Jerry Colangelo has made a lasting impact on the game at every level, and it’s an honor to take part in an event that bears his name,” head coach Steve Lutz said in the release. “This is a great opportunity for our guys to compete in an NBA arena and challenge themselves against a strong non-conference opponent. We’re looking forward to a high-level game in front of a great crowd.”
This is the second reported non-conference game for the Pokes as they’ll be facing OU December 13 at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City.
The Cowboys are coming off a 17-18 overall record in the first year of head coach Steve Lutz, and 7-13 in Big 12 play.
They enter year two with a virtually entire new roster, returning just two players from last year’s team, as well as a few new assistant coaches.
Robert Jennings II and Andrija Vukovic are the only two returning players, and will be joined by transfers Kanye Clary (G), Christian Coleman (G), Isaiah Coleman (G), Jaylen Curry (G), Parsa Fallah (F), Vyctorius Miller (G) and Antony Roy (G), as well as incoming freshman Ben Ahmed (C), Ryan Crotty (G), Lefteris Mantzoukas (F) and Mekhi Ragland (F).
