Without Bo: We will probably win a wrestling title in the next 5 years
With Bo: Winning MULTIPLE wrestling titles over the next 5 years seems very possible. Really hope we can bring him in, Go Pokes!!!!
STILLWATER – One of the top wrestling prospects is back on the market. Bo Bassett, the No. 2 prospect in the 2026 class, has announced he’s decommitted from Iowa on Sunday evening. Along with the decommitment, Pokes Report has learned Bassett is actually currently in Stillwater working out at The Farm, Coleman Scott’s wrestling facility.
“After a lot of prayer and talking with my family, I’ve decided to decommit from the University of Iowa,” Bassett wrote on a Facebook post. “This wasn’t easy, but I believe it’s not the right fit for me as a wrestler, a person, or for my faith journey. I’m grateful for the opportunity, and I’ll never speak a bad word about their program. This is about finding the place God wants me to be. This is a huge decision in my life and it has to be the right one. I would like to thank all of the Iowa fans who have supported me. You have been amazing and I am grateful for the support you showed me.”
Following Bassett’s decommitment, the top prospect in the 2027 class, Melvin Miller, who happens to be a Bishop McCort teammate of Bassett, and adopted brother, re-released his top schools list on Sunday without Iowa listed stating “family first.”
Bassett, who is teammates with current Oklahoma State commitment, and current No. 1 overall prospect in the 2026 class, Jax Forrest, is set to enter his senior season with Bishop McCort at 145 pounds.
Forrest just won the 61kg Pan-Am title with an 11-0 tech fall over Joey Silva of Puerto Rico. The Cowboys also hold the commitment from Dreshaun Ross, who’s the No. 3 overall prospect in the 2026 class.
Needless to say, David Taylor is putting together one of the best high school recruiting classes in recent years for OSU.
With how DT and Co. have recruited the past year, including this '26 class, I wouldn't be surprised if they were able to land him, which would be a massive get. It would be three of the top five wrestlers in the class, to go with what will most likely be a talented transfer class next spring. DT has turned OSU wrestling all the way around in a very short amount of time and I'm excited to see what he does next.Dolleypop said:
This is huge, would be so freaking happy if he came to Stillwater.

to be fair, we were hovering around 3rd for a long while, so he didn't have to completely turn it around, but he (with solid funding) has definitely elevated the program to the next step.Zach Lancaster said:With how DT and Co. have recruited the past year, including this '26 class, I wouldn't be surprised if they were able to land him, which would be a massive get. I mean wrestling didn't completely drop off the table, but the last few years were bad with really no hope of winning either a team title or individual title, including the worst finish at the tournament in program history. And yes, funding has had a lot to do with it, but if it wasn't a complete 180 turnaround, it was like 160 degrees.RodeoPoke said:to be fair, we were hovering around 3rd for a long while, so he didn't have to completely turn it around, but he (with solid funding) has definitely elevated the program to the next step.Zach Lancaster said:With how DT and Co. have recruited the past year, including this '26 class, I wouldn't be surprised if they were able to land him, which would be a massive get.
