Oklahoma State Lands Israeli Guard Daniel Guetta
STILLWATER – Steve Lutz filled one of the final two roster spots for the upcoming season on Sunday as Israeli guard, Daniel Guetta, committed to Oklahoma State.
Oklahoma State offered Guetta in early June.
Checking in at 6-2, Guetta, who will be 22 years old this coming August, is out of Israel, and played for Maccabi Rehovot this past year, where he averaged nearly 10 points and three rebounds per game, with nearly five assists and shooting 35% from 3-point range.
Guetta adds talent and experience to the roster as he’s played professionally for the past five season. As with all incoming college players, the speed and physicality of the game will need to be taken into account, but much like Mantzoukas, Guetta should be more prepared than a traditional incoming freshman.
Also, like Mantzoukas, Guetta will be an older freshman with multiple years of eligibility remaining.
This now makes five international players on the Cowboys’ roster, with Guetta joining sophomore Andrija Vukovic from Croatia, Parsa Fallah from Iran by way of Oregon State, and incoming freshmen Ben Ahmed from Nigeria by way of the Putnam Science Academy and Lefteris Mantzoukas from Greece. This has to be one of the most diverse rosters OSU has probably ever had.
