Here's A Sobering Thought for the Fourth of July: 5-Star OTs Cost $5.1 Million
STILLWATER – You might cheer that Mansfield, Texas five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo, easily one of the top 50 players in the nation, no matter which recruiting site you look at, won’t be going to Texas. However, it is important to mention that he is now going to Texas Tech and Oklahoma State and the rest of the Big 12 will have to deal with the 6-7, 285 pound, and very athletic Ojo.
Ojo committed to Texas Tech on Friday, signing an historic, seven-figure revenue share contract with the Red Raiders, his agent Derrick Shelby of Prestige Management told ESPN. It is said to be a fully guaranteed three-year deal for $5.1 million in revenue sharing dollars.

Ojo was offered by Oklahoma State early on but the price was way too rich for the Cowboys system. Oddly enough and coincidentally Ojo’s older brother Patrick was a 6-2, 225 pound redshirt junior defensive end at OSU. The walkon left after the end of spring practice last semester.
Tech will have to deal with the rest of their offensive linemen and their team, even a quarterback, that won’t be making close to what Ojo is pulling in. Ojo chose Texas Tech over Florida, Michigan, Ohio State and Texas or maybe you should say Texas Tech outbid all those schools for Ojo.
One thing is certain, there has never been a youngster go to college and have so much pressure to perform and perform well. Hey, and what about his senior season at Mansfield Lake Ridge High School, does he even play this season knowing that he is a $5.1 million dollar player and can’t risk the possibility of injury in high school.
I’d like to see the contract and see what the provisions are for various instances, mainly lack of performance.
