Jax Forrest Sweeps Vito Arujau to Become Youngest U.S. Men's Freestyle Member Since 1974

STILLWATER – Jax Forrest’s dominant year continues as he just swept 2023 World Champion, Vito Arujau, to take the final spot on the U.S. men’s freestyle team at 61kgs.
The Oklahoma State commit, who’s set to turn 19 this October, is the youngest senior team member since Billy Rosado in 1974.
“It’s crazy, I can’t even describe it,” Forrest told USA Wrestling following the event. “It feels great but, obviously, knowing that this is just step two of the process. I got to go do my job in September, which obviously I’m really excited. I’m know I’m at a good spot, but I’m gonna have a great couple of weeks and then right back to work trying to be world champ.”
The Bishop McCourt HS senior took the first match 4-3, before rolling to a 7-2 win in the second match in Fargo, North Dakota. The match, which was set to be wrestled in June at the actual Final X, was postponed due to a medical reason for Arujau.
Forrest, who committed to the Pokes back on February 6, 2025, is set to join heavyweight national champion, and Hodge Trophy winner, Wyatt Hendrickson at the Senior World Championships in Croatia September 13-21.
Forrest, who’s the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2026 class for David Taylor and Co., is set to begin his senior season this fall and will sign with the Pokes this coming November.
