STILLWATER – Last week we were in Frisco, Texas at The Star for the 2025 Big 12 Football Media Days, and honestly, it was better than it has been in years. I recorded 36 interviews, most in the 4-8 minute range, but some as long as 20 minutes like our sit down with Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy. Gundy talked about many of the things he did on stage in front of the print media.

How are Zaquan Patterson and Wendell Gregory coming along? Those were the eye-popping two transfer gets that I was curious about, Wendell has the potential to be a monster based on the film I watched

I still want t know if there is the chance they move Patterson to linebacker because he is much like Nick Martin with his athleticism and he is known as a fierce tackler and can really hit and light opponents up! He is currently 6'0" and about 211!

I definitely believe he will stay at safety, but we will see some looks in Grantham's defense where he is lined up as an LB. He has mentioned packages where a safety could line up as an LB, corners as a safety and other variations. Zaquan looks to project as an awesome box safety hybrid utility player, if he develops well he can be a serious weapon

That is what I am hearing from a very good source in the West End Zone that he will be more hybrid than strictly on the back end or along the front seven!!! He is a phenomenal athlete that needs to be on the field FULL TIME!!!

I hope a group of portal players can come together quickly in what sounds like a very complicated, multiple option NFL defensive scheme. Having said that, I'm very interested, enthusiastic and anxious to see all this roll out! For folks bothered by play for play, what could be more expected when we now see head coaches and coordinators making millions of dollars sending these young men into battle!
