STILLWATER – Oklahoma State football is closing in on a week of Fall Camp at the Sherman Smith Indoor. Plenty of work is being done, both offense and defense, to try and figure out who the starters are going to be at just about every single position.

He was great in protection; he was great on third down, but I think he can be a three-down back, and that’s the biggest compliment you can give a running back.”

The same mostly goes for NFL teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, who features former Cowboy running back, Jaylen Warren. Jaylen has had a decent three-year career with the Steelers, constantly fighting for more and more playing time. Well, there’s a decent chance he could be the starter this upcoming season, and new starting quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, had a lot to say about the workhorse out of Utah.

He was asked if people were overlooking Jaylen is being overlooked because of the Steelers’ third-round pick, Kaleb Johnson out of Iowa.

“I don’t know what the narratives are out there, but Jaylen’s super smart. Just from playing against him, I know that he was a great change up back. He was great in protection; he was great on third down, but I think he can be a three-down back, and that’s the biggest compliment you can give a running back.”

The Steelers beat the Rodgers former team, the New York Jets, 37-15 this past season. Jaylen had 12 carries for 44 yards behind the former starter, Najee Harris, who had 21 carries for 102 yards and one touchdown. He finished the season with 120 carries for 511 yards and one touchdown.

While there might be some scuttlebutt surrounding Johnson possibly getting more playing time, the NFL is a fickle beast. It was reported just this morning by Penn Live writer, Nick Farabaugh, Johnson had a rough day on Wednesday.

"Johnson went 0-3 in the backs-on-backers drill and lost decisively to Malik Harrison, who bullied Johnson with a bull rush," Farabaugh wrote. "He worked off to the side with Jaylen Warren after practice. If he cannot get going in pass protection, his playing time will naturally be capped.”

Jaylen has been very aggressive during his three seasons in the league, turning heads every game he plays. He’s one of the best pass blockers in the league, as evident by this video.

He’s fast, explosive, and I feel he’s poised for a breakout season in 2025.
