STILLWATER – In all of our excitement over Oklahoma State rookies making their debut in the NFL, guys like Brennan Presley, Ollie Gordon II, and Nick Martin, we missed a breakout performance for wide receiver Tay Martin with a new team. The 6-3, 188 pound Martin signed with Washington on July 23 right at the start of training camp. Martin has fit in well and in the first preseason game showed it against the New England Patriots.
Martin was the second leading receiver for the Commanders with three receptions for 36-yards. He was only targeted three times, so he was a perfect three for three.
Martin has been with the San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans over the last three seasons. He was a rookie free agent signee with the Niners and primarily a practice squad player. Martin has played in four regular season games and caught one pass for 49 yards and a touchdowns for the Titans last season.
Over the course of his five college seasons with Oklahoma State and prior to Stillwater at Washington State, Martin had 228 receptions for 2,810 yards and 28 touchdowns. During his final season with Oklahoma State in 2021, Martin led the conference with 1,046 yards on 80 catches.
