STILLWATER – The Big 12 Conference announced on Aug. 13 that starting this school year its’ members will now have to issue injury/avaialbility status reports each week leading up to game action.

The Big 12 Conference schools will publicly provide player availability reports for all Conference games in football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball. Approved by all member institutions, the policy will include updates in the days leading up to each game, as well as a final report 90 minutes prior to kickoff or tip-off.

In the past Oklahoma State football head coach Mike Gundy has been very quiet and non communicative on player injuries and playing status. Oklahoma State football and basketball practices are closed to the public. Gundy has had varying degrees of availability, but this year they are closed to the public and all outside interests.

Oklahoma State basketball head coach Steve Lutz has had closed practices since he took over as the Cowboys head coach.

Big 12 football programs will be required to submit daily reports beginning three days before each game. Men’s and women’s basketball teams will update their availability reports the night before each contest.

All reports will be housed exclusively at Big12Sports.com. For football, student-athletes must be designated as available, probable, questionable, doubtful, or out. Basketball designations will include available, game-time decision, or out.

The coaches and gamblers will care, it doesn't really impact much else, does it?

That being said, All the other teams had to do was listen to Pre-Game as Dave always does a good job of laying out the "Mercy Check of the Cowboys' Health" report at the very beginning.

well, that totally misses the point.....

it doesn't help all that much to know who's going to QB minutes before the game, after you spent haff of your practice time preparing for the other guy.

A big change for Gundy. OSU has to be one of the least transparent programs to their fans and public. Virtually no availability for the head coach nor information about their team where other programs provide practice reports and get coach comments relative to player efforts and improvement along with descriptions of scrimmage performances.

The difference of course is this team is semi-pro with paid players. That would include betting interest which comes with paid performers from gamblers nationwide.

It seems OSU isn't interested in generating interest preseason as they keep info about their team on lockdown until fans see them play a game. Now, gambling interests want more info and OSU will have to provide it to control it because those same gambling interests will get the info one way or another.

You're naive if you don't believe that's one reason among others this is being done. It's pro football light so of course Vegas will weigh in.

no need for name calling.

You implied that gamblers influenced the B12 to make this change. You made that up.

It's 2 hours. Not minutes.

bleh... 2 hours or 2 minutes, it changes nothing if you spent 3 days preparing for the wrong QB or for 2 QBs.

you can't get that practice time back
