I take it all back, maybe our soccer season will mimic the football season.
and this my friends is why we do not schedule the goons in any sports.
NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma State dropped a 4-1 contest to Bedlam-rival Oklahoma Sunday night at John Crain Field.
With the loss, the 22nd-ranked Cowgirls fell to 1-1-0 on the season, while OU improved to 2-0-0. OSU is now 32-11-5 all time against the Sooners.
Xcaret Pineda scored her second goal of the season for the Cowgirls, who were outshot 18-6 in the contest. Five of OSU's shots were on goal, and it owned a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.
OU took a lead just 39 seconds into the contest when a cross into the box was kicked into the net by a Cowgirl defender for an own goal.
The Cowgirls tied the game in the 10th minute. After drawing a free kick just outside the top of the box, Pineda stepped up and drilled a shot into the back of the net to knot things at 1-1.
OU regained the lead in the 35th minute. A free kick from midfield carried into the box and through traffic and found the foot of Naomi Clark, who put away the open net opportunity from eight-yards out to give the home team a 2-1 advantage.
The lead reached 3-1 in the 42nd minute off another free kick. This time, the initial shot off the pass into the box was saved by Logan Marks, but the rebound was tapped in by Ashley Tutas.
The lone goal in the second half came in the 82nd minute when Clark recorded her second of the match.
The Cowgirls return to action with a pair of matches next week as they host Nebraska on Thursday night before a Sunday showdown with Arkansas State.
