STILLWATER – There are more highly-regarded rookie stories for the Oklahoma State Cowboys in this NFL preseason that is rapidly coming to a close, but the best by far for my money is 5-8, 174 pound undrafted rookie free agent Brennan Presley, I know that Ollie Godon II is making a big push in Miami and that Nick Martin is a slam dunk at linebacker in San Francisco, but Presley would be on
the All-NFL Preseason Team this Auguest if that even existed. Presley leads all receivers so far with 11 receptions for 164-yards, a 14.9-yds. per catch, and a touchdown vs, the Dallas Cowboys. His longest reception, a 40-yarder set up the winning touchdown vs. the Los Angeles Chargers in week two.
Presley has rushed for 38-yards on five carries this preseason and had two kickoff returns for a total of 45-yards. In today’s preseason finale at Clevleand, a 19-17 loss to the Browns, Presley had three rushes for 23-yards and three receptions for 51-yards on three targets.
“It’s all a good sign for him,” head coach Sean McVay said of Presley. “He has made the most of his opportunities. We will go back and see how this all fits in putting this team together. We had 69 slots, 53 and a the 16-man practice squad. We know a lot of the players that won’t be moving forward with us are NFL 53-caliber players. That’s what makes it tough.”
Presley left Oklahoma State as the all-time leading receiver in receptions. He was a rock solid playmaker throughout his career on offense and in the return game on special teams.
This is for certain, Presley has put out a lot ot good video and he is a very versatile player. If the Rams try to waive him and then bring him back on the practice squad, he won’t be there. The word is out and Presley will be claimed and will be playing for another NFL team if the Rams don’t keep him on their 53-man roster.
It’s a great story that couldn’t happen to a more deserving individual.
