Nolan McLean Continues Historic Start to MLB Career With Fourth Win
Former Oklahoma State pitcher Nolan McLean continued the historic start to his MLB career as he recorded his fourth-straight win with the New York Mets in the 12-5 win over the Detroit Tigers.
McLean went six innings, giving up three hits and two earned runs with seven strikeouts and three walks.
He’s the only Mets pitcher, and just the second pitcher since ERA became official in both leagues in 1913 to go 4-0 with a sub-1.50 ERA and 25-plus strikeouts over his first four starts of his MLB career. The other is Hall of Famer Fernando Valenzuela, who was the NL Rookie of the Year, the NL Cy Young Award winner and World Series champion in 1981, the year he accomplished the same feat as McLean.
Nolan is also the first pitcher to win his first four MLB starts since 2014.
Through his first four games, McLean has a 1.37 ERA with 28 strikeouts across 26 innings pitcher.
