Jones Smiling As Jenks Beats Union and He Passes Dad on Jenks' Rushing List
The Jenks Trojans got strong performances from just about everybody on the team as quarterback Landon Kizzar threw for four touchdown passes and receiver Kailib Dillard had five receptions for 168-yards and two touchdowns in the 48-30 Jenks win over Union in the MidFirst Bank Backyard Bowl. Jenks is 3-0 on the season heading into a bye week before opening district pay with top-ranked Bixby.
Lots of stars but the night belonged to Oklahoma State commitment and now Jenks’ all-time rushing leader Kaydin KD Jones. For our highlights we thank KOTV Channel 6 in Tulsa. Jones needed just 16-yards to pass his father, Kejuan, as the eighth all-time most productive runner in Jenk’s history.
Jones did it quickly as he had touchdown runs of 64 and 35-yards in the contest. He finished the night with 15 carried for 165-yards and the two touchdowns. Jones is on pace to pass the next seven former Jenks backs ahead of him and become the school’s all-time leading rusher. He currently has 3,223-yards at Jenks.
Jones came into the game needing only 16 yards to pass his father, Kejuan, into eighth place on Jenks' career rushing list. KD accomplished that quickly in and finished with 15 carries for 165 yards and two TDs. He showed some spin moves on a spectacular 64-yard TD run late in the first quarter. Jones has 3,223 rushing yards at Jenks. Already this season, Jones has 533-yards and 10 touchdowns rushing.
He normally wears No. 2 for the Trojans but for this Backyard Bowl, Jones wore his dad’s 21 to honor his father and the 25th anniversary of Kejuan Jones 307-yards of production including an 80-yard touchdown run in the final moments of the game to beat Union 41-37 in 2000.
