Oklahoma State quarterback Zane Flores left the game against Arizona with an apparent upper body injury late in the third quarter. He was sacked on 4th and short attempting to pick up the first down.

He made his way to the medical tent after the turnover on downs, before heading to the locker room shortly thereafter.

Interim head coach Doug Meacham met with the media after the 41-13 loss to the Wildcats and gave an update on Flores.

“He’s got an injury, an upper body injury. I’m not quite sure the severity of it. But from what I was told, I don’t think it’s something he’s going to be out for the season with. I think he’s going to be sore for a few days, and we’ll reassess and see how it goes.”

Meacham was then immediately asked about quarterback Hauss Hejny and his injury status.

“My last conversation with [Hejny] is he wanted to play,” said Meacham. “We’ll see how it works out and when that’s going to occur. I think he’s walking now, and I think he’s going to try and improve the strength in his lower leg and see what he can do. I know he told me he wants to play. So, I’m all for it.”

Hejny suffered a Jones fracture early in the season opener against Tennessee Martin.

Meacham played receiver Sam Jackson V at quarterback a bit in the game on Saturday, as well as some direct snap work to the running backs, before putting true freshman Banks Bowen into the game late. He’s the son of interim defensive coordinator, Clint Bowen.

Regarding the quarterback situation moving forward, Meacham said it’s wait and see. “Wait and see, and we’ll just figure it out. We have [Banks] Bowen, who came in there in the end, and we have Sam [Jackson,] who will probably get a little bit more [playing time] with his seven-play package. This is all new, we’ve got to get back and see where we are and who’s available and try and get a plan moving forward.”

The three quarterbacks combined for 13-of-28 passing for just 69 yards and one interception against Arizona.

The Pokes are back in action next weekend as they play host to Houston for an 11 a.m. kickoff on TNT.
