Pro Cowboys Talk About Future of Oklahoma State Program and Give Messages To Recruits

STILLWATER, OK – Oklahoma State football is in full swing of spring practices and is on the verge being allowed to host recruits for the first time since March 2020, both of which will help the team and the fans see one thing.

The future.

When thinking about the future, there are plenty of people who want to see it and judge what it’s worth is: The team, the fans, and of course, recruits.

I can sit here and tell you all about how good the recruits are and what they will bring to program and Robert Allen can tell you everything in the world about what goes on in spring practices and how good the guys coming up are, but we are still the media, which means people will still have their reservations about what we say, wanting to see it for themselves.

However, there is one group of people whose words may hold a little more weight and might stick with fans and recruits just a little bit more. Former players, especially ones of the captain variety.

Cleveland Brown AJ Green and NFL Draft prospect Tylan Wallace spoke with me about the future of the program and gave some messages to recruits.

What Tylan Wallace had to say about the program and his thoughts on the future would probably make Mike Gundy and staff very proud.

“When me and my brother visited here and were able to meet all the fans, the coaches and just see the atmosphere here in Stillwater, it was just different than any other place so we kind of knew right away where we wanted to be,” Tylan started. “It has everything you would need. For me it was probably the best four years of my life.”

One of the biggest things that recruits talk about when talking about the Oklahoma State football program is that feel a family atmosphere and Tylan made sure to prove that right in our conversation.

“That’s what I liked about the atmosphere here is that it feels like a family atmosphere. You could go up to any of the coaches or whoever it is and ask them for help on anything or talk with them about anything and I think that’s what I appreciated the most about OSU. I visited other places but when I get to meet everybody at OSU and got to know them, it was different. People out here really care about you and they want to see you succeed in life whether it’s on the field or off the field. That was the biggest thing for me.”

Tylan also gave this quote when I asked him if there was anything he wished recruits would know when considering to play at Oklahoma State.

“With the football program, it’s all you could ask for, they develop you as a player, as a person and they make sure that both of those are instilled not just on the field but off the field as well.”

Former Cowboy captain and now Cleveland Brown AJ Green also felt the same way about the OSU program and also added, “The program is what you make it. You’ve gotta come ready to work and stay focused, be driven and as long as you continue to work hard, this program will get what it deserves.”

Both of the former Cowboy standouts believe that from what they’ve seen, the Oklahoma State football program is only getting better, something they both hope future recruits notice.

Green said, “I think the future of the program is in good hands, I mean we always reload every year with guys ready to step up including a lot of these young guys I’ve been hearing have been making plays as well as the recruits they’re bringing in. I think the future is going to be very good for us.”

When asked what he thought about the future of the program, Tylan said, “I honestly don’t see it going anywhere but up. I don’t see anything but the football program getting better especially with all these really good recruits coming in and the defense getting a whole lot better. Hopefully as I leave, I set a good enough example of what OSU can be and how good this team can be.”

AJ Green went through the draft process last year and ended up impressing a multitude of NFL teams and now Tylan Wallace is going through that same process, something he says OSU has played an invaluable amount influence in.

“They have been there every step of the way since I left. If I needed some help with preparing for interviews with the NFL, I could just call some of the guys up here and ask them for information. Whatever it was, I knew they could help me or prepare for it. They have been there for me every step of the way.

As finished our call, Tylan praised Oklahoma State even more and added that “I’ll be representing OSU probably for the rest of my life honestly and I’m gonna be trying to come back whenever I can, especially for home games and things like that.”
