STILLWATER – Oklahoma State’s comeback bid in the third quarter against No. 24 Cincinnati came up short as the game slipped away late as the Pokes lost, 49-17.

With the loss, the Cowboys have now lost 15-straight games to FBS opponents and 13-straight Big 12 games, dropping to 1-6 on the season and 0-4 in Big 12 play.

Quarterback Sam Jackson V had his best game at the position as he went 11-of-19 passing for 149 yards and one interception, with 14 carries for minus-three rushing.

Running back Rodney Fields Jr. posted career-best numbers as he had 21 carries for 163 yards and one touchdown.

The Pokes started the game going three-and-out, with the Bearcats scoring just under 12 minutes left in the first quarter to go up 7-0. Logan Ward got the Pokes on the board late in the first quarter with a 33-yard field goal to make it 7-3.

The Bearcats extended their lead with a 14-yard rush by Cyrus Allen. The Cowboys then posted one of their best drives of the season going seven plays, 75 yards, which was capped by a six-yard touchdown scamper by Jackson V.

The Bearcats scored on their first four drives of the game, with their fourth coming on a 12-play, 94-yard drive to go up 28-10 with 12 seconds left in the second quarter.

The Cowboys made a game of it in the third quarter with Rodney Fields getting into the end zone from 20 yards out to make it 28-17, before the Bearcats scored two-straight touchdowns to go up 42-17. The unfortunate part is the Cowboys were driving and close to scoring. They went 11 plays, 61 yards in 7:16 time of possession. The Cowboys got to 1st and goal from the Cincy eight-yard line before a false start moved it back to the 13-yard line. Then Jackson V threw a 100-yard pick six.

Then on the ensuing drive, the snap was rolled and recovered on the OSU 13-yard line by the Bearcats, with Cincy scoring two plays later to make it 49-17.

The Pokes are back in action next week as they travel out to Lubbock for a 3 p.m. kick against Texas Tech.
