STILLWATER – Oklahoma State rolled its way to a 95-71 win over Oral Roberts in the season opener following a strong second half.

The Cowboys didn’t anything better on the offensive end in the second half, but really turned up the pressure defensively as they held the Golden Eagles to just 25 points in the second frame on 22% shooting from the floor and 16% from 3-point range. That’s compared to 46 points on 43% shooting from the floor in the first half.

Head coach Steve Lutz met with the media following the game to discuss the win. Also meeting with the media was Christian Coleman and Vyctorius Miller as Coleman became just the 10th Cowboy in program history to record a double-double in his OSU debut and Miller led the Pokes in scoring.

“Obviously, it's fun to be back playing basketball in Gallagher-Iba Arena,” head coach Steve Lutz said after the game. “I mean I'm excited for the future of this team and this program. It was a little bit of rocky start defensively, but I thought that we righted the ship a little bit more in the second half and showed a glimpse of what we can be defensively. But we've got to be that for 40 minutes moving forward if we're gonna be the type of team you know that can actually make the NCAA tournament and win some games.”
