Oklahoma State Set to Host Prairie View A&M in Midweek Showdown

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men’s basketball is looking to start the year 3-0 for the second-straight season under head coach Steve Lutz as they play host to Prairie View A&M for a midweek tilt.

The Cowboys will be hosting the Panthers on Military Appreciation Night in GIA, and they currently hold a 6-0 all-time record against PVA&M. 

Tipoff for the game is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT and will be streamed on ESPN+. 

The Cowboys are coming off an impressive 87-63 win over Texas A&M this past weekend, while the Panthers lost to Wichita State on the road, 105-62. 

As a team, the Panthers are averaging nearly 84 points per game on 46% shooting from the floor and 27% from 3-point range. As a defense, they’ve held opponents to nearly 69 points per game on 43% shooting from the floor and just 23% from 3-point range.

They’ve outrebounded opponents nearly 36 to 31, while forcing 20 turnovers, leading to nearly 31 points, and assisting on 11 plays per game compared to nine. They’ve also averaged three blocks per game.

They beat the College of Biblical Studies 95-48 in the season opener, the University of Dallas 94-53 on November 5 and the lost to Wichita State on Saturday. 

They’re led by grad guard Tai’Reon Joseph, who’s averaging 20 points per game on 47% shooting from the floor and 32% from 3-point range. Grad forward Cory Wells is second on the stat sheet in scoring and first in rebounds with 14 points and seven rebounds per game. He’s shooting 42% from the floor and 75% from the free throw line. 

Grad guard Dontae Horne is averaging 11 points and junior forward Marcel Bryant is averaging nearly 11 points per game.
