Cowboys Go with Long Team Period and Tay Martin Keeps Making Plays

STILLWATER – We learned on Thursday that officials would be in attendance and working the Oklahoma State spring practice on Friday. We asked about a scrimmage and were told that it would probably be more of an extended team period and that is what it was. The normal team period is about 20 minutes, but the scoreboard inside the Sherman Smith Training Center showed 45 minutes for the first team period.

We saw some flashes of good stuff from Tay Martin last season, apparently while he was "out of shape".... If we get to see an "in-shape" Tay Martin this season, I suspect that he may be a very effective bridge between the rock stars of Wallace, Stoner, and Wolf and the young'uns coming on. It will be fun to see how this goes. Go. Pokes!

there are a lot of guys that I'd like to see get some serious PT and take advantage of it.... like Owens, et al.

I guess the emphasis of the pseudo-scrimmage was on pass protection, so there was more passing than run plays, or the report made it sound like that... (not many run highlights)

With pass protection also goes pass rush penetration, which we didn't hear much about either.

lots of questions left unanswered (un reported) by the article....


I realize that the article's intent was to point out the highlights, but I can't help but cringe at inadvertent statements like this "In the passing game freshman receiver Jaden Bray made a nice catch in the middle of triple coverage. "

who the heck is throwing into triple coverage at this point? Hopefully it was one of the non-scholarship QBs. I'm glad Bray could make a play on it.
