STILLWATER – There were some fun parallels to talk about on Wednesday night as Oklahoma State basketball hosted USF for a non-conference match up. The Pokes won a high-scoring contest 103-95 in front of OSU and USF fans alike. The match up also made for some fun social media fodder with flights coming into the Stillwater from Tampa Bay, obviously lots of jokes around USF head football coach Alex Golesh being named as one of the top candidates for the OSU opening.

Well, we got even more to talk about after Rob Higgins, the CEO of USF Athletics took to social media to give an update on the discussions he and Golesh’s representatives have had.

If there’s transparency, all of that’s pretty standard to see from an AD or CEO of an athletic department. Where it got interesting was Golesh responded to the message with, “Let’s Goooooooo! #ComeToTheBay”

Pretty standard stuff from Golesh as well, but probably surprising for OSU fans because they haven’t had a social media friendly head coach for decades, so not a lot of responses to things.

With all of this, Pokes Report has had Golesh as one of the top candidates for the OSU job from the very beginning. But to think other P4 schools with openings, or South Florida, who is fully committed to funding their athletics wouldn’t try to keep Golesh would be foolish. Also, in discussing this with Robert, he still feels there are multiple candidates Chad Weiberg is dealing with and whoever the choice is will be in Stillwater as soon as the regular season is over.
