STILLWATER – As expected Oklahoma State’s new head football coach Eric Morris arrived in Stillwater on Snday (Dec. 7) with his wife Maggie and his son’s Jack and George. They flew in on a private jet and pretty quickly upon arrival were ushered inside Boone Pickens Stadium for a greeting complete with fight song and poms.
Morris and his family actually arrived earlier than expected and he was able to start getting some things done. The head coach’s office on the fourth floor of Boone Pickens Stadium was spotless and ready for him to start moving in a few items. I actually saw it on Friday and it was pristine and smelled like Mr. Clean had taken over.
Morris got the lay of the land on the coach’s level, fourth floor of Boone Pickens Stadium. This was the first time he had been to the facility. Sunday evening at 7 p.m. he had his first meeting with the players as a team meeting was called for the team meeting room on the locker room and weight room level of the West End Zone.
Earlier in the day, the Voice of the Cowboys Davie Hunzike had interviewed Morris inside Orange Power Studios.
“I know this hea has a plan,” Hunziker said as he mentioned they talked a lot about him personally, his father and his trip up the ladder of coaching. About mentors like Mike Leach and Dana Holgorsen.
“I would say and describe him as very down to Earth, easy to be around and talk to,” added Hunziker. “He is genuine. He is super comfortable. We talked more personality and non football. There will be plenty of time to talk football, but you can tell he is driven and will be ready to put his plan into motion.”
Monday is more the pomp and circumtance of the program of introducing Morris to Oklahoma State and it’s fanbase.
As we reported earlier, he will have lunch with former players that are able to get to Stillwater on short notice. The invite went out last week to the former Cowboys players.
At 1:30 at the Conoco-Phillips Alumni Center will be the gathering for fans. After the concludes, the the media will get their first opportunity to ask questions of the new head coach inside a meeting room in the alumni center.
