Report: Eric Morris Set to Hire Wake Forest WR Coach Nick Edwards
STILLWATER – It appears Eric Morris has his wide receivers coach. According to a report from CBS Sports, Wake Forest receivers coach Nick Edwards is set to join Morris’ staff at Oklahoma State.
Edwards marks the second offensive hire for Morris as we reported here at Pokes Report UNT offensive line coach Cody Crill is also set to join the staff.
Edwards joined the Wake Forest staff following two seasons at Washington State. During the 2024 season, WSU had Kyle Williams rack up nearly 1,200 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. It marked the first 1,000+ yard receiver for the Cougars since 2019.
In the 2023 season, the Cougars had six different receivers with double-digit receptions, including senior Lincoln Victor, who went from 245 yards on 26 receptions in 2022, to All-Pac 12 honors with 89 catches for 860 yards and five touchdowns as a senior under Edwards.
Prior to his time with WSU, Edwards spent the 2022 season as an offensive assistant with the Atlanta Falcons and had a coaching fellowship with the Minnesota Vikings in 2020.
He was the offensive coordinator and receivers coach for Cal Poly in 2020-21, three seasons at Cal and four seasons at Eastern Washington, the school where he spent four seasons as a player, helping them to an FCS national title in 2010, hauling in 57 catches for 614 yards and seven touchdowns.
He was a unanimous All-American in 2011 with 95 catches for 1,250 yards and 19 touchdowns to lead the FCS.
