STILLWATER – Oklahoma State announced the hiring of two more football coaches to Eric Morris’ staff, both coming from North Texas. Patrick Cobbs has been hired as the run game coordinator and running backs coach and Ike Eguae has been hired as an assistant defensive line coach.
Cobbs joined the North Texas State back in 2019, working under Morris for three seasons, 2023-25, while Eguae spent just the 2025 season at UNT under Morris, following defensive coordinator Skyler Cassity from Sam Houston.
There’s some OSU ties with Cobbs as he was the running backs coach at Denton (TX) Ryan while Spencer Sanders was there.
Cobbs, who’s originally from Shawnee, OK, graduated from UNT back in 2005 as the program’s all-time leading rusher with 4,050 yards and 36 rushing touchdowns. This past season, he coached fellow Shawnee native, Caleb Hawkins, who led the nation in scoring, total touchdowns and rushing touchdowns, while ranking No. 6 in all-purpose yards per game, No. 13 in rushing yards per game and No. 17 in yards per carry.
As for Eguae, he’s had several stops leading to Oklahoma State, including Coffeyville Community College, Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston.
He was part of a UNT staff which improved by nearly 10 points per game in scoring defense, 90 yards per game in total defense and more than 100 fewer yards per game in passing defense.
