STILLWATER – Eric Morris and Co. just landed the third offensive standout from the transfer portal in North Texas wide receiver, Wyatt Young.
Young joins five-star transfer quarterback Drew Mestemaker, who committed on Saturday, and running back Caleb Hawkins, who committed on Sunday afternoon.
Young is 6-0, 195 pounds and is set to enter his junior season. Originally out of Tompkins HS and Katy, TX, Young was a top five receiver nationally this past season as a sophomore and was part of the three-headed Mean Green monster.
Recording the second most receiving yards in a season in UNT history, Young hauled in 1,264 yards and 10 touchdowns, doing his part of the best offense in the FBS, an offense that combined for 512 yards of total offense.
The trio of Mestemaker, Hawkins and Young was one of the best offensive trios in all of college football as they led the Mean Green to the nation’s leading offense with 512 yards per game. They were also the nation’s leading scoring offense with 45 points per game.
247Sports ranks Young as a four-star prospect in the portal, the No. 39 overall prospect in the country and the No. 10 WR in this portal class. His quarterback, Drew Mestemaker, is the No. 3 overall prospect and the No. 3 overall QB in the class and Caleb Hawkins is the No. 16 overall prospect and the No. 2 overall running back.
There’s no question the trio of Mestemaker, Hawkins and Young was one of the best and most explosive in all of college football. The question now is whether the trio can put it together at the P4 level against much better opponents.
Young is now the 10th commitment out of the transfer portal for Eric Morris and Co., joining QB Drew Mestemaker, RB Caleb Hawkins, WR Miles Coleman, OL Desmond Magiya and Braydon Nelson, S Quinton Hammonds, long snappers Nolan Akins and Caden Yates and punter Lachie Pozzobon.
