STILLWATER – Oklahoma State has now dipped below the FCS level to NCAA Division II and found a talented tight end from the Oklahoma prep ranks. Bodie Boydstun is a 6-5, 240 pound redshirt junior to be from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Last season he caught 14 passes for 191-yards and three touchdowns to earn second-team All-Greater American Conference honors.

Thinking of Division II all you have to say is Trinidad Chambliss. The former Ferris State quarterback has helped take Mississippi to the CFP semifinals.

Boydstun is legit. he has an interesting story in converting from quarterback and from a small private school, but he is athletic and he has gained size and strength. He is a legitimate blocker as well as target in the passing game.

Boydstun, who originally started his college career in Weatherford as a quarterback, is from Oklahoma Bible Academy near Enid, Okla. His freshman season he played in two games as a quarterback and completed 19-of-39 passing for 134-yards with four interceptions.

He moved to tight end and his career has taken off. He played tight end and started in all 11 games this past season. In his transition season, he played in 10 games and had three receptions for 49-yards.

“My offensive coordinator at my old school is now at Oklahoma State and that’s how they knew about me,” Boydstun told me over the phone. “they started showing interest and this is a big deal. I grew up an OU fans, but I’m an OSU guy now.”

In high school at Oklahoma Bible Academy Boydstun was a two-sport standout in football and baseball.

He is the second tight end in the Oklahoma State transfer portal class.
